Chia Seed – Matcha Tea Breakfast

Every so often a colleague of mine often shows up to work with a little jar of green goop that she eats while sitting at her desk. I asked her what was in the jar and she let me have a taste of the green goop and you know, it was delicious!

Not only is it delicious, it is also one of those “living foods” like kimchi and sauerkraut that is good for your digestive system. Delicious and good for you? Yep, I am down for trying some and if you want to as well, here is a rough guide to what’s in the jar;

To begin, use a small jar or some kind of glass container that will hold approximately a cup or two. Add to that jar:

  • about 5 ml (that’s about a teaspoon) of matcha powder and enough water to just make it liquid.
  • 20 ml (4 teaspoons) of chia seeds
  • about three tablespoons of Greek yogurt – honey flavour adds a little sweetness.

If you feel like it, you can also add a tablespoon of quick oatmeal. Yes, just pour in a tablespoon of dry oatmeal.

The jar should be about half full with these things in it. Then you can add almond milk to top up the jar. The mixture should have the consistency of a runny porridge.

Leave the jar full of goop in the fridge overnight and then enjoy a healthy breakfast the next day.

Keep in mind that all these measurements are approximate and you can adjust, leave out, or substitute whatever you want to make this delicious little breakfast work for you.
