Birthday Celebrations

We had more than one reason to celebrate today. The first reason to celebrate today is the fact that it is the father-in-law’s birthday. Second reason, it was on this day in 1996 that Jim Dog came to live with me.

I do have to say that the father-in-law is probably in better shape than old Jim Dog. Jim is blind due to the cataracts in both of her eyes and lately she has been having a hard time hearing me when I talk with her. Of course she still loves to eat and will sit staring (blindly) up to where she knows the treat bowl sits in the hopes that some poor sap will walk by and hand her a scrumptious yummy.

While Jim the Dog is having some difficulties, the father-in-law is doing just fine. We took him over to the Dragon Palace for dinner this evening. The problem with going for dinner is that the twins are beginning to reach their expiration time. They are getting very close to their bed time so when we get in a restaurant we need to sit down, look at the menu and then order…like NOW.

We did and the food arrived promptly enough. And today we found that Story loves curried rice noodles! She was devouring them as fast as I could feed them to her.

Unfortunately, when we have the twins with us for a meal it is difficult to sustain a “grown-up person” conversation. Much of our attention and time is spent trying to prevent the girls from grabbing anything placed on the table within their realm of influence. This does seriously limit conversation although it does keep us hopping. Peripheral vision is a benefit for the parents of twins.

Today we celebrated two special family members, Jim the Dog and the father-in-law. A good day.
