Cheesecake Shortcut

Cheesecake is one of the desserts that will earn you all sorts of brownie points. Especially if it is a good cheesecake.

Cheesecake is actually relatively straightforward and simple to make, but the one really tricky part of making cheesecake is making the crust.

Frequently the crust on cheesecake is like a layer of fine gravel in a river bed. It takes an experienced hand to get it so that the crust layer on the bottom of the cheesecake is not too dense, nor too sharp and gravelly on the tongue, and yet still full of flavor and able to support the cheesecake on top.

A simple way to make a wonderful, soft and yet supportive crust for cheesecake? Use brownies.

You can crumble the brownies into a fine powder and then spread them around the bottom of the pan and press them into place so that you have a smooth and even surface to put your cheesecake on top of.

If you are eating gluten-free, there are lots of recipes for gluten-free brownies that make wonderful brownies. Gluten-free does not have to mean flavour free.

Anyway, that is my cheesecake shortcut for today. If you’re making a crust for your cheesecake get some brownies crumble them up and then pack them into the bottom of the pan. Once your brownie crust is in place, put the cheesecake on top. It’s just that simple.
