Craft Breweries Coming to Coquitlam?

The City of Coquitlam is inviting members of the public to provide their feedback on potential changes to liquor licensing policies and regulations, including zoning, in Coquitlam.

The potential changes would allow for certain commercial zones to include liquor manufacturing such as craft breweries, wineries or liquor distilleries, a use that is already permitted in industrial zones.

The potential changes would also allow the sale of liquor for on-site consumption or take-away in the M-2 Industrial Business and B-1 Business Enterprise zones.

The review is in response to the many recent changes to Provincial liquor policies and regulations, such as the sale of liquor now being permitted in grocery stores under certain conditions.

Feedback is being collected from all liquor license holders in Coquitlam, liquor industry associations, the RCMP and the public. Consultation results will be presented to Council before the end of 2015.

Background information and a feedback form are available at www.coquitlam.ca/liquorreview. The deadline for written input is Friday, October 30, 2015.
