Park Spark – a new community program Coquitlam

The City of Coquitlam has launched Park Spark – a new community program aimed at bringing Coquitlam parks alive.
Park Spark offers meaningful, fun and unique experiences for everyone. The goal of the program is to make the community part of temporary as well as permanent park enhancements with the focus on participation and connection.
Park Spark goes beyond ‘traditional’ volunteer experiences, such as the Adopt-A-Park program (which will continue to run), to create new volunteer and engagement opportunities in Coquitlam’s parks. Staff will also be looking to the community to generate new ideas for events and projects.
Contributors to the Park Spark program could be schools, businesses, service clubs, churches and residents.
Types of volunteer events could include, but are not limited to:
Sweat Equity projects (such as invasive species removal);
Flash Mobs (dances, choirs, jam sessions);
Art in the park (ephemeral or permanent art);
Seasonal lighting (such as the Christmas Lights display at Lafarge Lake); and
Street corner beautification displays.
