I have been battling a head cold for over a week and each day I have dutifully gone into the office and staggered around like a sorry old fool. It has gotten to the point now where my head feels like it is going to explode, so I chose to stay home.
Now, it has been a long time since I have taken a sick day so I am sort of at a loss as to what to do. That got me to thinking about what I would do when I was a kid and I would stay home from school. I clearly recall two things; sitting in bed reading the Eaton’s Gift Book and watching reruns on KVOS tv.
Now that I am older and my idea of toys has changed and, add in the fact that the Eaton’s Gift Book is no longer published (and I can’t find KVOS anywhere on the tv), I have decided to sit in bed with my iPad and make up my own Christmas wish list of tools.
Once I have my wish list done, I am going to get out of bed and attempt to do some of the little chores that I have been avoiding.
Apparently, even though it is October, I need to mow the lawn one more time. If the drum stops pounding inside my skull I may attempt that task.
I also need to get some pictures hung on the walls in the house. My kids have been
producing art at a prodigious pace and Sweetheart takes great pleasure in having the pieces framed. Apparently having them lean against the wall where I would like to someday hang them up is not “artsy” or “respectful” of their art.
Once again, if the drumming stops, I will be looking into picture hanging hardware to get the pictures off the floor.
That’s it for now. I am going back to bed to start working on my Christmas wish list. Oh get over it, you know you have also been thinking about and planning for Christmas.
Over to you, what is your sick day routine? And, does anyone know where I can find Matlock and Golden Girl reruns?
