Just a quick poll type question for today. This is to do with a bit of research I am doing so if you wouldn’t mind answering in the comment section, I would be very grateful. And as always, you can comment anonymously, even though it looks like you have to enter an email address, you do NOT have to. You can also use a fake name if you don’t want people to know your viewing habits.
The poll questions, how have your television viewing habits changed over the last two to five years?
- Do you watch less television or more?
- What type of television programs do you watch? News, reality tv…
- And finally, do you watch “television” programs on your computer via YouTube.
Please answer the questions in the comment sections. And if you would share with your friends, I would like to have a sample of ten to twenty different responses to base my research on.
Thanks!

Mostly news.
No.
No more no less

No to computer o youtube
A lot less
News and every so often documentaries
And no.
More now that we have a PVR.
Sitcoms, reality TV (sigh, yeah I’m hooked), kids programming.
Nope, not on computer
1. Less
2. Sit Coms, Space Channel
3. Never.
1. More
2. Drama, reality
3. No
I watch less, significantly. I watch a lot of kids shows (whee!) and a few specific shows like True Blood, Glee and Criminal Minds. I don’t watch anything via YouTube specifically, but I do watch Hoarders on AETV occasionally.
I watch less
I usually watch Clark Howard, Fareed Zakaria, Anderson Cooper, Glee and 2 and half men each week.
I often watch documentaries and how to videos (about computer stuff) on youtube. I also type my favourite topics of the day or week into youtube to see what is out there…
more TV Love reality and Knowledge/ history channels
Computers are not for watching TV shows
1. Do you watch less television or more?
– about the same. If you include watching TV shows on DVD, then it’s much more.
2. What type of television programs do you watch? News, reality tv…
– sitcoms mostly
3. And finally, do you watch “television” programs on your computer via YouTube.
– very rarely.

Do you watch less television or more? Same
What type of television programs do you watch? News, reality tv… None, unless my son pulls something up on the computer.
And finally, do you watch “television” programs on your computer via YouTube. Yes, if my son pulls it up but my son uses Project Free TV most often. I prefer listening to music.
Do you watch less television or more?
* about the same – TV is on but I’m not always actively engaged in watching
What type of television programs do you watch? News, reality tv…
* news every day, never reality TV, sometimes comedy or drama shows
And finally, do you watch “television” programs on your computer via YouTube.
* no
1. same, no change
2. 1-hour dramas, mostly; occasionally 30-min. sit-coms
3. no, but we usually download and save our shows and watch them later
1. I definitely watch less tv than ever before … programming is so poor these days
2. News, documentaries, only one sitcom (Everybody Loves Raymond) – mostly because it is down-time shared with my husband. One hour-long drama and CFL games.
3. No programs on my computer. I pay for data usage and that makes a huge difference in what I watch on you-tube or other sites.
Probably a bell curve over the past 5 years. Now that we get our TV shows via the computer and have a TV that let’s us use bluetooth to show them we watch less TV but more of what we want.
Blood and death seem to be our faves. Dexter, Breaking Bad, Fringe, So You Think You Can Dance (oh, not so much death in that one!)
YouTube is not the usual go-to for TV but we watch lots of YouTube other things.
1. I watch about the same amount as I always did.
2. I like the singing/dancing/talent shows but not much other reality tv (guilty pleasure exceptions: “Dog the Bounty Hunter” and “Family Jewels”; also cop/detective shows; Two and a Half Men and a few other comedies. Watch very little live tv since I got a PVR last year. Rarely watch the news or daily shows anymore now that Oprah’s off the air, although I have started to watch Anderson Cooper’s afternoon show sometimes.
3. Nope – watch no TV or movies through the internet (I do like You Tube for other things, though, like funny videos and teaching videos).
1: much less
2: Hockey>news>the Office
3: Rarely.
I watch about the same amount of TV. I mostly watch news, docs and sports. I don’t watch my computer
