Last week when it was too hot to cook I popped into Doppio Zero Pizza for a quick bite to eat after swim lessons.
And … it was a fabulous experience! My kids love watching the pizza chef shaping and stretching the pizza dough and then sliding it into the woodfired pizza oven.
We started by sharing a generous bowl of roasted Brussel sprouts – they were good. A little too roasted so they were good. Not great. Good enough that I would order them again to see how they were the next time.
But the gnocchi – little pillows of heaven. I have not tasted gnocchi like this since the last time my Mom or best friend’s Noni made them. Pillowy soft like biting into a little tiny cloud.
And the blue cheese cream sauce. Pine nuts, artichoke hearts, and sundried tomatoes. Oh yes. We approve!
Perfect little morsels. Yes, I am gushing a little too much. But these gnocchi … heavenly. We will definitely be back to try more of their menu. Especially seeing as they have a “construction time special” of a Margherita pizza for $10.
Speaking of construction, a really cool thing going on right now is that if you go into Doppio Zero Pizza and order more than $30 worth of food they give you a $10 gift card compliments of Fortis who have a contractor ripping up the length of Como Lake Ave to replace a natural gas pipeline.
Doppio Zero Pizza is located at 1655 Como Lake Ave in Coquitlam.
Phone them at 778-355-5333 to make a reservation (not usually needed unless you are going in with a large party.)
