While out of town on the Family Day weekend, my daughter and I filmed a short video of us baking a loaf of bread in a cast iron Dutch oven, over an open fire.
My daughter loves being the camera operator and directing how the video “unfolds”. I quite enjoy her directorial skills!
And the goodness, unlike our previous attempt at baking bread over an open fire, this loaf turned out beautifully!!
What may not be obvious in the video is that every three to four minutes I turned the cast iron Dutch oven so that the heat was being distributed all around the pot. Also, part way through the baking process I lifted the pot up and placed it on hot rocks so that the bottom of the bread did not get too hot and burn.
Overall, it was a very cool experience! We will do it again.
