Just the quick facts here tonight; if you are downtown Vancouver and craving a monster sized bowl of pho, head on over to the Gold Train Express Noodle House on Nelson, just over Seymour.
Whenever I am downtown Vancouver I try to connect with my Raincity Badger buddy for some good eats and a face to face chat. The best part is he always knows the hidden gems. Today was no different; I was taken for the biggest bad-ass bowl of pho I have ever eaten.
For $9 I had a bowl loaded with thinly sliced rare beef, beef tendon, tripe and brisket. And although their broth was not the most complex and intriguing broth, right until I had to quit eating I was finding pieces of beef hiding in the soup bowl.
Perhaps the best part of the Gold Train Express Noodle House? The interior decor – very traditional paintings of Vietnamese Palaces with bright neon Olympic Rings (am I allowed to say those words?) and a massive TV showing an NBA game.
Excellent stuff.
