Tucked into a nondescript strip mall in Port Coquitlam is Ramen Bella – a hidden gem that beckons ramen enthusiasts and food aficionados alike. The minimalist decor, adorned with Japanese-inspired elements, sets the stage for a culinary adventure that promises to tantalize the senses.
When I visit Ramen Bella with its unassuming facade, I get the feeling that I am being transported onto the set of The Midnight Diner – a strange little Netflix series about life in a ramen restaurant set in Japan. If you haven’t seen The Midnight Diner, check it out late tonight – it is much more entertaining if you watch it late at night.
Anyway, back to Port Coquitlam and Ramen Bella and their menu. Today, the kids and I sampled Shio Ramen, Chicken Karaage don, and the flavorful Maze Soba.
To me, a bowl of ramen is a bowl of comfort. And Ramen Bella does not disappoint with their beautifully crafted bowl of Shio Ramen. With each spoonful the broth brings me comfort. Paired with perfectly cooked noodles, tender slices of chashu pork and crisp thin sliced green onions, and topped with two halves of a soft boiled egg, the bowl of Shio Ramen is comfort.
My kid with the more discerning palate had the Crispy Chicken Karaage don. Golden brown and impeccably crispy on the outside, yet succulent and tender on the inside, each bite is worth the wrath my kid rains down on me when I steal a taste from her plate
Whether enjoyed on its own or paired with a piping hot bowl of ramen, the Chicken Karaage at Ramen Bella is sure to leave taste buds craving for more.
My other kid who is game to try new and interesting flavours departed from the traditional ramen menu and had Ramen Bella’s Maze Soba. A dry-style ramen dish originating from Japan, Maze Soba features noodles tossed in a flavorful sauce and topped with an assortment of ingredients. At Ramen Bella, the Maze Soba is loaded with textures and flavors, each component adding depth and complexity to the dish. From the rich umami of the sauce to the satisfying crunch of the fresh vegetables, every bite is an adventure that kept my kid digging in for more.
Ramen Bella stands out for their commitment to quality ingredients, meticulous preparation, and dedication to customer satisfaction, they have carved a niche for themselves in the hearts of food enthusiasts in Port Coquitlam and beyond. Whether you’re a die-hard ramen fanatic or simply seeking a memorable dining experience, a visit to Ramen Bella is sure to delight the senses and leave you craving for more.
Ramen Bella can be found tucked in beside the Michael’s store at 2755 Lougheed Highway in Port Coquitlam.
