It was too hot to even think about cooking at home so the kids and I headed out to Ramen Bella for a bowl of steaming hot ramen.
However, there was a twist to the experience. Ramen Bella has a summer menu featuring cold udon made with veggie broth. This is the path that one of my kids decided to follow – cold udon.
I thought it was weird to eat cold soup, but actually when I tasted the soup, it really tasted great.

See those weird eyeball like things on the left-hand side of the picture above? Those are ice cubes of broth to keep the chill in the soup.

Everything in the bowl is cold. And you know what? Like I said, it really actually tastes good. Like, so good I want a bowl for myself next time.

While my kid was willing to try something new, I’m more of a creature of habit so I opted for my usual; the double pork miso ramen. Classic.
I don’t care what temperature it is outside. It’s always good for a bowl of ramen.

Love that pork belly chashu as well as the spiced minced pork. And those soft boiled eggs? I love love love them.

My daughter with the more discerning tastes chose the pork gyoza. Perfect crispy outer shells with soft creamy pork filling. She chose them, I loved them. She ate a couple.

Because I was hungry when I got to Ramen Bella, I ordered too much food. However, is there ever too much food when you’re at Ramen Bella? It all tastes so good.
The chicken kaarage was definitely good. Deep fried boneless chicken thighs with that perfect creamy sauce on top and just wonderful, juicy chunks of chicken.
I always enjoy visiting Ramen Bella. Sure you can order ramen and all the sides as takeout or delivery through the apps, but honestly, there’s nothing more comfortable than sitting at a table and enjoying a piping hot bowl of ramen, or icy cold soup as my kid discovered, instantly after it has been created.
Ramen Bella is located beside the Michael’s craft store at 2755 Lougheed Hwy in Port Coquitlam. If you do visit, tell them I sent you. They won’t have a clue as to what you’re talking about, but hey, it’s worth a shot!
