After my luxurious stay in the Fairmont Empress Gold Hotel I also had the pleasure of returning via BC Ferries from Schwartz Bay to Tsawwassen on the mainland. Typically I open up my laptop and work while on the ferry. This time I chose to treat myself to the Pacific Buffet. And what a treat it was!
The lunch food was great; baked salmon with a lemon dill sauce, some kind of cheese stuffed ravioli, rice, spring rolls, steamed veggies, clam chowder and a complete salad bar with all the usual suspects to be found. Delicious.
However, the real star of the Pacific Buffet is their Decadent Dessert Bar. This is the chocolate lovers paradise.
My first stop was this chocolate cake. Perfection.
These tasty little chocolate layer bars were another hit with me.
These tiny chocolate wafers were also delicious.
Cookies dipped in chocolate. Little mounds of goodness covered in chocolate.
Need I say more? Tiny chocolate cupcakes.
So what did I manage to sample? Well, strictly for your sake, I sampled the cheesecake, the tiny chocolate cupcakes, the tiny chocolate tarts, the chocolate covered mound of gooey goodness and a couple of the chocolate dipped cookies.
And my verdict? Cheesecake perfectly moist with a nice resistance to the fork pushing through it. The tiniest bit tart blueberries (my choice) were a perfect accompaniment to the rich sweetness of the cheesecake. it was all delicious. All superb. All wonderful.
My only regret was that the sailing was only an hour and a half so I could not indulge myself any further.

If I plant myself face first in a pile of pancakes with fake syrup tomorrow morning and die in an agonizing diabetic coma and having instantly gained back the 10 pounds I’ve lost I am blaming you.
