Cirque de Soleil Michael Jackson; Day 5 NaBloPoMo

I was never really a Michael Jackson fan. At the same time I was never a Michael Jackson “hater.” Sure when Thriller came out I was impressed but overall I was just indifferent to him and his music.

This evening though, I gained a whole new respect for Michael Jackson after attending Cirque de Soleil, Michael Jackson. Wow.

This outing was my Sweetheart’s and my first night out without the girls in over two and a half years.

Sweetheart bought the tickets for us ages ago and we just hoped our girls would be able to handle an evening at home with a baby-sitter.

The line-ups of people trying to purchase merchandise were crazy. It looked like a scene from The Walking Dead with all the Walkers trying to get at Otis and Shane. Except the crowd at Cirque de Soleil were much better dressed.

As far as the show goes, it was extraordinary. Simply unbelievable. Beautiful. Poignant. Moving. Sad. Hilarious. It was a gorgeous spectacle of music, dancing and athleticism. It was the best of Cirque de Soleil along with the incredible music of Michael Jackson.

Although this is not your typical Cirque de Soleil with mind-blowing athleticism and stunts that leave you breathless, the show is a spectacular display of dancing married to Michael’s music and exceptional videography.

Here is the closing screen.

Perhaps the saddest moment of the evening came for me when the house lights came back up and I looked up into the rafters of Rogers Arena, the Vancouver Canuck’s home rink and noticed something missing…
