Last week, on Thursday July 11th I took a few minutes before heading off to school and I planted a couple rows of green bush beans.
I’m not sure if you remember or not, but last year I had significant difficulty getting beans to sprout. I now realize that I was simply planting them too early in the season. Beans need the ground to be warm in order to sprout.
This year, even though I was fretting about planting them so late in the summer, I waited. The results are really quite amazing to me.
As I said, I planted the beans on July 11th.
Here is a picture of my first sprouted bean;
And then here is the same garden bed on July 13th;
And then, here we are today;
These are like magic beans the way they are growing. I will keep you up to date on how they do in the coming days.
