Vancouver Motorcycle Show – January 24-26th

It is happening this weekend! Like right now, at the Tradex in Abbotsford, the Vancouver Motorcycle Show has the best and newest motorcycles, scooters, ATV’s and side-by-sides on display.

Most of my buddies and I consider the Vancouver Motorcycle Show to be a can’t-miss event. This is our opportunity to see, in real life, all the new bikes that are being offered for the coming motorcycle season. This is the showcase of the industry’s best vehicles, accessories, technology and expertise.

LiveWire 2018

Back to the show again this year to thrill, excite and amaze crowds are the Seattle Cossacks Motorcycle Stunt and Drill Team. This team of riders have brought their spectacular shows to crowds all over the world since 1938 and have been featured on popular network shows like America’s Got Talent, Ripley’s Believe it or Not and Real People. Now into their eighth decade of performances, these feature riders are sure to be a highlight of the Vancouver Motorcycle Show.

Vancouver Motorcycle Show attendees will also have the opportunity to see a very special customized 2014 military-themed Harley DavidsonTM Street Bob® motorcycle, presented by Konquer® Motorcycles, on display at the Parts Canada Drag Specialities booth for the first time this year.

NEW to the show this year is the Vintage & Café Racer Show N’ Shine sponsored by Class6Cycles and the West Coast Classics and Café Racers riding club.

Owners of these classic Café-style racers will have a chance to put their pride-and-joy on display for all to see. What’s more, attendees will be able to check out these beauties and vote for their favourite bike for the title of Peoples’ Choice!

Back by popular demand, local stunt group VanCity Stunters will be generating their usual flurry of smoke-filled excitement with their acrobatic motorcycle maneuvering and high-energy performances their fans have come to expect.

Group founder and Langley resident Matt Bush says the group of riders, which includes none other than Maple Ridge favourite Bill Hitchon, famous for his ATV one-of-a-kind tricks, will have a new show featuring new surprising stunts.

It’s no surprise to regular show-goers that the Vancouver Motorcycle Show features some of the latest cutting-edge technology in racing and safety – and this year is no exception.

On display this year is Honda’s Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) demo featuring the latest technology of Honda’s Goldwing with cruise control. Honda’s DCT technology lets riders focus on the thrills of accelerating, turning and breaking rather than gear shifting, meaning you’re one less worry away from enjoying the ride.

Speaking of technology, the bike I am seriously interested in seeing is the all new Harley Davidson’s fully electric 2020 LivewireTM bikes. Not only will individuals have a chance to marvel at these beautiful works of art, two bikes will be on display for fans to hop on and feel the impressive performance and acceleration offered by the Livewire bikes.

I am VERY curious to know how the Harley Davidson crowd is going to respond to a a Harley that does not have the distinctive Harley rumble sound.

Those of use who find the crowds exhausting can kick back, relax and let it all soak in at the Moto Lifestyle Lounge. Take the opportunity to hang out with fellow riders and check out custom Triumphs.

Kawasaki Z900 – NOT the Z400

Attendees to the Vancouver Motorcycle Show can enter to win a Kawasaki Z400 ABS Motorcycle! This nimble and ultralight handling bike – valued at $5549 – is perfect for navigating city streets and will be sure to thrill riders of all levels. Visit the Kawasaki booth from 12-4pm on Saturday, January 25th to fill out an electronic ballot for a chance to win. Five names will be called and one lucky qualifier wins!

Must be 19 years of age or older to enter.

Yamaha Riding Academy is also returning for kids between the ages of six to 12 who want to learn how to ride the latest Yamaha TT-R off-road motorcycle, in a safe and secure environment and in the company of trained and certified instructors. Each riding session is approximately 15 minutes and is limited to eight riders total. The academy is free-of-charge with admission.

Watch for me at the Vancouver Motorcycle Show – I will be the guy drooling over the new adventure-tourer bikes and the new Harleys. See you there!
