Day Four Eating in the City

Yea, I’m definitely a creature of habit. This morning I returned to Cafe Artigiano for my breakfast.

As well as a cup of drip coffee (an excellent cup of coffee) I had a cheese scone. I love cheese scones – but this was not good. Far too dense.

My sidekick had a parfait which was rich and very creamy with a thick and decadent cup of Greek yogurt with granola and lots of berries. Very good.

For lunch we finally did it – we stopped at Rao’s Burger Shack. There are a number of these food “trucks” or carts parked around the downtown. We stopped at the one on the corner of Georgia and Granville.

Honestly, this is the best thing I’ve eaten while visiting downtown. Smash burgers rule. Especially when the one we got, the Lazy Lion burger was only $9. A decently good deal.

I do love smash burgers. I need to revisit Between Two Buns to see how Rao’s compares to their burgers.

An after lunch snack just because it looked so interesting on the menu of a shop we walked by.

Yes, spam musubi. It was nice. My sidekick really enjoyed it. For $4 I can take it or leave it.

And back to Breka Bakery and Cafe for dinner.

After all, why not have dessert before dinner? Strawberry shortcake. Delightfully light and perfectly sweet.

Late in the evening, my appetite returned. So my sidekick and I walked down Robson to Smithe to eat at Jinya Ramen Bar.

We started with Takoyaki. Battered and fried chunks of octopus on a creamy egg salad like mixture. This was good. Better than that smash burger level of good.

Just the creamiest, softest, most perfect little bite of food. The Japanese mayo adds just the right sweetness to each bite.

For my main I had the signature dish, Jinya Tonkotsu Black ramen. A pork broth with pork chashu. Very good broth. Very good.

Of course that little bowl of oven-roasted brussel sprouts was a nice accompaniment with my bowl of ramen.

That’s another day of eating in the city.
