Nitty Gritty Dirt Band Coming to Chilliwack

Well the bad news is that the Travis Tritt concert planned for the Fraser Downs Raceway has been cancelled. However, the good news is that the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band is still on tour and has every intention of visiting our neck of the woods. Seeing as Travis Tritt will not be coming to town, and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band is coming to town, well, that sort of changes our concert ticket giveaway.

Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band

The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band is touring in support of what I figure is their 34th album. If you are interested in seeing the Nitty Gritty Dirt band, on October 19th they are playing in Chilliwack at Prospera Centre. As usual, you can purchase your tickets through Ticketmaster or…you can win them here!!

To win tickets to see the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band play in Chilliwack (c’mon folks, it is only an hour east of Metro Vancouver!) do the usual, comment on this post about why you want to see them AND post in the name of one of the opening acts for the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. AND finally, post along with your “why you want to see this concert” comment, the name of one of the current members of the band or one of the former members. There certainly is an interesting list of former members.

Is that straight-forward enough? For clarity, one more time;

  1. Post a comment saying why you want to see the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band concert
  2. In your comment mention the name of one of the opening acts for the NGDB concert in Chilliwack
  3. In your comment mention the name of one of the members or former members of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (now don’t be copying your neighbour’s answers!).

So, easy enough!! For the skinny on entering contests on Stacey Robinsmith dot com, read this thing. If you are tweeting to get an additional entry to the contest please add in our Twitter handle, @PapaStacey so that we can make sure your name goes into the draw each and every time.

This contest will run through until 11:59pm on Friday, October 1st, 2010. The winner will be chosen through a random draw. Have at it  now folks!! And, to keep things civilized, let’s make it one entry per day. Go ahead and enter every day, if that works for you, but let’s keep it to once a day. Thanks y’all!!

  1. Okay, this time I win! You know how I know I win? Because 1) this is a Tuesday night and it will be raining and 2) I do NOT want to drive to Chilliwack on a school night to see my old friend Jeff Hanna being Nitty Gritty 3) in my dad’s hometown. And, 4) did I say “old”? I’ve seen these guys a few times. They’re great. It’s a good time, but 5) we’ve heard the songs before and before and before.

    Murphy’s Law! I win!

  2. Caitlyn, you are the early leader in our contest to give away two tickets to the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band concert in Chilliwack.

  3. I want to see the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in concert because I love the song, “Fishing in the Dark”! One of the opening acts is Kenny Hess. John McEue was a member.

  4. I want the tix to go see the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band because, man, who wouldn’t???? The songs are great and they’re the biggest jug band/blues/folk rock/country band in the world, hands down. John McEuen’s a member. Kenny Hess opens.

Why do I wanna win? UMmmm hello?!?! Great music, a night away from my cranky, teething, wild child, and a chance to unwind. YUP sounds like a good time to me! One of the opening acts is Kenny Hess. John McEue was a member.

  6. This is one of the bands my mom always had playing while I was growing up. I can’t sing any of the songs off the top of my head, but I bet I’ll know every one of them once I hear them begin.

  7. HI
I want to win because it has been so looooooooong that I have forgotten everything I ever knew about this band. That is what having children and becoming joined at the hip can do to you.
So have pity on me and forgive me for not remembering any of it except that they are a great band and in my day, what I can remember, I really enjoyed the music and all that went with it.

  8. Since i been a small child my uncle would play this band. he said if theres one thing in your life to do before your 40 is to see this band. I’m 39 and will be 40 in January. I feel this is tha last time i will ever gert the chance to see them before i turn 40. My favorite uncle died on my last birthday and i feel it would be a great and warming didication to his and my long time relationship to go.

  9. I would love to see the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band but I somehow doubt the free tickets include airfare from the opposite coast. Ah, well, I can always get my two-step on all by my lonesome.

  10. A night out on the town, listening to great music, sounds like a great idea! Any excuse to spend a night out with other adults 😉

  11. I saw them at the Linden, Washington Fair about 10 years ago. There are a fantastic act.I often said that I like to see them again and now I could park at home and walk to their venue.

  12. I want to surprise my hubby with some tickets. They are the biggest jug band/blues/folk rock/country band in the world, hands down. John McEuen’s a member. Kenny Hess opens.

  13. John McEuen rocks. But I have never heard of

Kenny Hess and Dance Mob. My dad took me to some amazing concerts when I was young. I would love to repay him. I heart daddy! : )

  14. Since I won the soap contest I suspect I won’t win these tickets … But you can’t blame a woman for trying . Thanks again Stacey for all of these opportunities .

  15. I’d LOVE to see the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, I love them….John McEuen is fab 🙂 Unfortunately, I won’t be in the Chilliwack area, so I can’t see that in my future 🙁
All the best to whomever goes, should be a good show!

  16. Tough decision I have to make. Either go on a European Cruise or go see the group Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. (I know I would win the tickets) So after much thought (about one mili-second) I think I will let the rest of you try to win MY tickets to the concert. Enjoy the concert. I know I will enjoy Greece,Italy,Turkey and Croatia.

  17. I think Colleen is very kind to give “HER” tickets to the rest of us. I would like to nominate Big Green Meany for the tickets because his story is a full-out winner. (Unlike my whining refusal to want the tickets …. But I still figure as soon as you give Murphy half a chance Big Green Meany is out and Caitlyn is in. Sorry, folks!)

  18. I have listened to Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, since I was a little girl. It has never gotten old!! I now share the music with my children, Id love to see them!

  19. Well “Mr. Bojangles” if I don’t win you will be hearing “Some of Shelly’s Blues” and I will be “In for the Night”, “And So It Goes”. “All I Have to Do Is Dream” and it could happen. My girl friend said there won’t be any more “Fishing in the Dark” if I don’t get tickets and she will make sure I’m “Shot Full of Love” if I do. So get off your “High Horse” and pick me. All my “Partners, Brothers and Friends” are going and if there is a line-up I can “Stand a Little Rain”. I’m a “Workin’ Man” so tickets are expensive. If I don’t win “Bang, Bang, Bang”,
you can find me dead at the “House at Pooh Corner” and I don’t want to go “Down That Road Tonight”. It’s been a “Long Hard Road” for Jeff Hanna but, Amber Nicholson, this “Baby’s Got a Hold on Me”, lets just say “I Saw the Light”.

  20. I’d love to see the NGDB! Since I was a little kid I’ve loved them. I also live 15 minutes from Chilliwack so it would be perfect for me! I’m listening to “fishing in the dark” now haha

Kenny Hess is an opening act!

    and JEFF HANNA!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks for the entry! 😀

  21. I have a secret crush on Jeff Hanna and Kenny Hess and to see the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Kenny together would be a dream come true!!

    Please send me
to see the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
    and Kenny!

  22. I love the song Oh what a Love, but opening my be cadilac Ranch. Kenny Hess is great. I would love to win as I am able to go and have never heard them play live and it would be great.

  23. Sorry to say folks but the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band concert for Chilliwack was cancelled. That means that I am two for two on concert ticket giveaways for shows that are cancelled. Sucks to be me. Terribly sorry everybody.
