  • A Couple Restaurant Updates

There have been a couple of changes in local restaurants recently and an exciting new opening you may be interested in hearing about. First, a place I tried over the Christmas break, the Onyx Steakhouse located in Port Moody’s Suterbrook neighborhood has suddenly closed. In its place will be another place I recently tried, Romer’s,…

  • Bara, Formerly Okonomi Sushi

One of my uptown New Westminster sushi joints has changed names – Okonomi Sushi is now Bara Sushi. Essentially the same people, the same menu, and the same specials. The change is a result of a separation between their downtown New West 4th Street location and the uptown location. When I saw the sign in…

  • Minami Sushi Yaletown

My favourite from the first course was the scallop. A flavour explosion of creamy, seafood goodness.    As well, this tiny sprig of sea cucumber was wild. All these flavours happening at once!     The most popular sushi at Minami is this salmon with their secret sauce and a paper thin jalapeño pepper with…

  • Okonomi Sushi New Westminster

Lunch today in New Westminster was a sushi combo of a Dynamite Roll with two pieces each of salmon and tuna nigiri sushi.    It was very good. Nicely cut and portioned sushi with good flavour.  The Okonomi Sushi I went to is on 6th Street in uptown New Westminster.

  • Mega Sushi

My favourite sushi lunch from Mega Sushi on Austin Ave in Coquitlam – their Tuna Donburi Bowl.

  • Mega Sushi For Lunch

Lunch today was a Tuna and Salmon Sashimi Don at Mega Sushi. The tuna was exquisite today!

  • Nagano Sushi – Coquitlam

I was down near Coquitlam Center and I had some time to kill, and of course I was hungry, so I went into Nagano Sushi for a pre-dinner snack. First impressions were that the combos and many of the menu items were just a bit more expensive than most other sushi restaurants that I visit…

  • SushiQuik for the Home

The good folks at SushiQuik make a nifty device for rolling your own sushi at home and they were kind enough to send me a complimentary sample of their device so that I could see how it works, play around with it, and make a short video of my experience with the SushiQuik. As I…

  • Sushi Quik and a New Tortilla Press

With all the festivities, fun parties and then my personal illness around the Christmas break I got backed up on my blogging and so I have a number of posts that I’m working on. One of the first blog posts I want to do is about this cool new sushi making device that will help…

  • Kaya Sushi Makes the List

A friend read my blog post about the Jimoco Cafe on Austin in Coquitlam and then promptly told me that if I am in that neighbourhood, I MUST check out their favourite sushi place, Kaya Sushi. So I did. And, as I usually do, I will begin by saying that Kaya Sushi will definitely be…
